The Man Who Refused to Die – Documentary
2007
Producer, Writer, Director
This is the remarkable story of Canadian bush pilot
Bob Gauchie who in 1967 survived being lost in the Arctic for fifty-eight
days without heat or food in temperatures of sixty degrees below zero.
Left for dead he wrote a daily journal entry to his wife and family
documenting his ordeal.
To this day he holds the world record for plane
crash survival in the Arctic.
The documentary will combine recent footage of
the 40th anniversary surprise party celebrating his rescue, interviews
with Bob and his family and rescuers, readings from his journal and
archival footage, radio clips and newspaper articles from the sixties.
